When to Start Lawn Care

The best time to rejuvenate your lawn after the cold months is in late March or early April. As the spring sun begins to warm the soil, you’ll notice the extent of winter damage. This is the ideal moment to begin scarifying your lawn to remove accumulated thatch and moss.

Scarifying and aeragation

Scarifying may initially leave your lawn looking worse, but don’t be alarmed - this process is crucial for long-term improvement. Follow up with aeration to improve soil ventilation, allowing the lawn to breathe, absorb nutrients more effectively, and prevent waterlogging.

Reseeding and repair

After scarifying, repair any bare or damaged patches with a specially formulated reseeding or repair mixture. The EUROGRASS range offers excellent solutions, including the professional EUROGRASS Pro mixtures and the HOME mixture range designed for everyday gardeners. These specially developed mixtures are perfect for restoring worn-out lawns.

Caring for newly sown lawns

Once you’ve sown the seed, ensure the area stays moist through regular irrigation or natural rainfall for up to four weeks. This creates the optimal conditions for germination. When soil temperatures exceed 8°C, the seeds will begin to germinate, usually within two weeks. Before long, the unsightly patches will transform into a lush, even carpet of nice green grass.

Enjoying a beautiful garden

With minimal maintenance, your lawn will recover quickly, becoming a green oasis that enhances the overall appeal of your garden. Start planning now to give your lawn the care it needs.
